To Be Leader You Need Followers

Woodrow Wilson started the trend: America Leads the world.

Unfortunately Wilson’s ego told him that he held Europe (and maybe the world) in thrall.

And briefly he was right.

But, equally unfortunately, he didn’t ever think that the US Senate wouldn’t also be in his thrall.

They weren’t.

And the treaty for the League of Nations never was ratified by the United States.

So we had to fight The Great War Part Two.

Luckily the world had Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin.

And we won.

And so did Wilson.

Because Roosevelt, all along, was re-introducing Wilson’s view of the world order, including The League.

And Truman took the baton from Roosevelt’s dying hand and finished the race: he saved Europe with the Marshall Plan.

Greece did not fall behind the Iron Curtain.

And he took the unbelievably unpopular decision to stop communism halfway down the Korean peninsula.

And he passed a coherent beginning of a stable world to the general who probably had more to do with winning the Second War than anyone but FDR – Dwight Eisenhower.

And Ike knew how to run that kind of world.

He had a lot to do with the fact that it existed.

Things had begun to gel according the the Wilson/Roosevelt plan.

And, up to the end of 2016, the President of the United States was the gratefully accepted (not in everyday circumstances, but every time the chips looked to be hopelessly down – the Cuban Missile Crisis comes to mind) leader of the civilized world, and to a great extent, the entire world.

But not now.

The idiot masquerading as POTUS has pissed away everything that Wilson, Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama have done to preserve and extend the world order that has kept us out of world war since 1945.

And just to prove that this is not just me being negative, look at the expression on the face of the Pope in his recent family portrait with the donnie and his camp followers.

Or translate some speeches from Angela Merkel.

Or listen to  Emmanuel Macron  in English.

Or look at the disdain in Theresa May’s eyes when she was stuck talking to trump when she visited the United States recently.

Or… just pick any donnie tweet.

No one would follow that cretin.

And so, America now has no followers.

Even his Arab new best buddies just laugh their asses off after he leaves the tent and the remains of his well burned steak smothered in ketchup.

donnie the deranged has given up – just because he is too stupid to know any better -  a very dearly won position of world leadership.

History has no precedent.

Even  idiot kings had competent ministers who kept them from screwing everything up.

But not donnie.

He has Jared.

And donnie, of course, is blissfully unaware of anything being wrong – except all that fake news and fake history.

But he has plans.
