During the pandemic, when somebody decided that it would be nice to make it less likely for poor Americans to starve while they simultaneously had high likelihood of dying from Covid, Congress upgraded SNAP in 2021 to pay a lot more monthly; now that it's less likely for poor Americans to die of Covid, that legislation has been rescinded; it was decided that it was time to get the poor American starvation rate back up.

In 2021, the total cost of the U.S. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) was around 113.74 billion U.S. dollars. This is a significant increase from the previous year, when the total cost of SNAP amounted to 79.1 billion U.S. dollars.

If one wanted to avoid purveying fake news one would look for information supporting the fact that most of those SNAP funds go to American farmers; but that's too much trouble, so one won't do that.
