I finally had to ask someone in the Carrefour Marché.
Ou est le jus de Tomate?
After some confusion about my terminology, my accent, my appearance and my vocabulary, I found out that what I wanted was Tomate de Marmande.
Not jus de Tomate.
No wonder I couldn't find it.
I had been looking for jus.
Luckily the Smirnoff was on the liquor aisle.
So I didn't have to ask.
It turns out Tomate de Marmande works just like jus de Tomate would work, if there were such a thing.
As jus de Tomate.
Works, with vodka, lime and tabasco.
But there isn't such a thing.
As jus de Tomate.
At least I couldn't find any.
That day in Carrefour.
Maybe some other day.
