98118 Once More

My son commented on this post.

Not surprising: he was the central character.

Here is what he said.

"you realize, i hope, that the life you chose to teach me about long before Champetra was started in Portland on 19th st (ave?).

In my 30s i realized that was a mostly puerto rican neighborhood.

Lots of loud women on the front porches yelling at each other and their kids during the week - the husbands and brothers and uncles on the weekends.

My first grade class picture - i am the white minority with a black principal. T

he next year, Catholic school, had zero non white kids - again did not realize this until later in life.

To me, people are people without distinction unless that distinction to be pointed out is something good, something to celebrate, something to experience with empathetic reverence.

Here is the link to the post he is commenting:

Noel McKeehan: Adventures and Opinions: What We Are: You Can't Stop It

Here is that picture.

You need to figure out which one he is.

His color memory is a little shaky, but that's America's soft underbelly.
