Worldwide we are learning something.
Brexit was the overarching indicator.
The dominos have kept impinging one another ever since.
Stupidity is the most endearing characteristic of modern self-governing nations.
Hate, sadism and massive corruption are the overwhelming rule of the road.
There is a smell of "it's over" in the smog.
The fact that it can be smelled through the smog is an achievement of consequence in its own right.
Tocqueville was amazed when he wandered America a couple hundred years ago that we were proof of a thing thought to be impossible: We could govern ourselves; we didn't need a monarch or such.
This Century America has reversed that observation.
In a letter to Lafayette in 1788 George Washington said that the only way the office of president could be transformed into a dictator or monarch would be if the people had entered "the last stage of corrupted morals and political depravity".
And he said additionally, "and even then, there is as much danger that any other species of domination would prevail.
Though, when a people have become incapable of governing themselves and fit for a master, it is of little consequence from what quarter he comes."
He said the only thing that could foil us would be ourselves.
We have clearly migrated ourselves to being incapable, as The President conjured so long ago, to the fatal flaw of self-governing incompetence.
The question then, is who, and what kind, of monarch must be found and installed, toute suite?
The only good thing about donnie, is we know what we don't want and can't tolerate.
What comes next is the follow-on question of consequence.
Can we look across time and see a leader who has been, whose replicate could serve our current needs?
Pharamond seems to me to be a good model for what we DO need, given the transitional and vastly more primitive nature of our obvious future.
