FDR pretty much dedicated his life to remaking the world according to the Wilsonian blueprint. 

Harry finished the project with the Marshall Plan. 

Every president since then has accepted the responsibility for continuing the project. 

Europe and most of the rest of the world in the years since Truman have accepted US leadership; under that leadership Europe has built the trans continent government that FDR, Wilson- and Benjamin Franklin - dreamed of. 

Now, a vast minority of voters have turned over the previously most important office in the world to an idiot who wouldn't know history if it bit him on his protuberant posterior, and couldn't find Slovenia on a map unless he thought the Adriatic was a crotch.
