In the Great Age of World Dominance by Navy, things ashore were settled by things asea.
The more pounds of iron you could hurl from the most possible gun holes in the side of your huge ship (gun ports) and the more levels - decks - of those gun ports that your ship possessed, the more likely you were to be able to siege an enemy - having already destroyed the enemy's sea borne defenses - and take home the bacon when the follow-on siege had starved submission.
Battleships ruled world warfare.
Until they didn't.
Hiroshima changed all of that.
From the sky, a properly accoutered military device could destroy a nation.
No ships; no ports; no decks; no battleships.
No Navy.
At all.
donnie wants to build a vast fleet of "trump class battleships".
Total program cost: 15‑ship fleet: $275 billion.
So donnie wants to gear us up at the cost of a quarter trillion (and counting: these things never come in on budget) to fight - again, with someone, a replay of the Napoleonic Wars).
