Good Speech; No Hope

I heard the President tonight speak on NPR.

I couldn't find any coverage on the TV Networks, or even PBS.

So, nobody much seemed to give a shit.

What the President had to say.

About the imminent future and long-term prospects of - our country.

I had hoped to watch.

The speech.

But NPR was all I could find that thought it was worth hearing.

So, I listened.

It was a pretty good analysis of how screwed we are.

As a Nation.

And as individuals - especially any of us who came up in the midst of the Depression and/or it's subsequent chapter, WWII - those of us for whom it has always been a knee jerk reflex to believe in ourselves and our unity, this speech was probably a call to arms; it certainly was for me.

But that's all gone now.

When it gets so bad that an American President feels the political need to try to rally the American People against lies, calls for violence and threat of civil war fomented by the opposition party of America's two party system, some gateway has been passed through and that gateway leads to oblivion.

No speech can fix the sickness that is the generator of that imminent catastrophe.
